Can I get into U of I as a transfer?

If I get a 4.0 at UIC as a freshman first and second semester, do I have a chance to transfer as a sophomore into their engineering program?

Classes First Semester that I have at UIC:

Calculus II
Gen Chem I
English
Sociology
Engineering Orientation Course

Second Semester:

Calculus III
Physics based Calculus
General Chem II
English part 2

All of these courses successful transfer to U of I and are equivalent to the courses offered there. So do I have a chance?

I know I have to show my high school records, which was average. I got a 3.3 in high school, and an average ACT.

But in college I am in the verge to have a 4.0 Cumulative GPA, both freshman semesters.

The chances of getting straight As in all of those classes are fairly slim. Overall, UIC grades harder than UIUC. Of all the undergrad colleges, engineering has the lowest average GPA. How could you have any GPA at UIC, if you just started freshman year? Classes just started a few weeks ago.

NO - other than the fact that if you were eligible to attend as a freshman you should have gone then and there was a reason you didn't, and then when you add to the fact that over half of the classes you taken thus far are called "gimme/easy freshman" general education classes you're not fooling or impressing anyone with bragging about your GPA.

I think you have a chance since I know of a number of people that got 4.0's from community colleges and other less-reputable universities than UIC. However, my suggestion to you is to transfer into a different college than the Engineering college right away. Once you're in UIUC, I think it would be easier to transfer between colleges.

I'm making these numbers up, but my guess for entrance into the engineering college (since it's the toughest program at UIUC) if you apply there right away is less than 50%. If you applied to business college, or even Arts and Sciences for a year, I would place your odds at 60%-70%. Once you are in, THEN I would try to enter the Engineering program.

EDIT: Just another thought, I would recommend applying to the Arts and Sciences college since you would be able to take some maths and science courses (such as physics) that could count towards an engineering degree. Just a thought.
